Regional Independent TDs cause chaos at local wedding


Not content with disrupting Dail proceedings for weeks by wanting to be both government and opposition, the four TDs comprising the Regional Independent Technical Group have now wrought chaos at a local wedding.

Michael Lowry, Barry Heneghan, Danny Healy-Rae and Gillian Toole turned up uninvited to the ceremony and when asked if they were with the bride or groom claimed both and stood four abreast in the middle of the church aisle, blocking the wedding party from passing.

“Like having chips and rice with your curry” – regional independent TDs fight back

There were extraordinary scenes in Leinster House yesterday with Dail proceedings suspended several times as four regional TDs who were part of government formation talks, believed they should be allowed form an ‘opposition’ technical group.

Naturally, this drew outrage from the actual opposition. However, the foursome have hit back by releasing individual statements to the media.

Martin and Varadkar pay tribute to Collins, shame his legacy

An Taoiseach Micheal Martin and Tanaiste Leo Varadkar have paid tribute to Michael Collins in a special ceremony at Beal na Blaith to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of his death.

“Michael Collins was killed for standing up his convictions,” said Martin. “Thankfully that would not happen today, as we no longer require our politicians to have any. We just muddle through and get re-elected every five years without fixing anything.”

Exclusive: TDs suggest alternative uses for €1m printer

Controversy continues to rage around the new €808,000 Dail printer, and the €236,000 of accompanying structural works, as TDs debate the best uses for a machine not due to enter public service until 2020.

     Down the Town News has obtained documentation from PAC with suggested alternative uses for the printer, while it waits to actually do what it was bought for. Edited highlights are below:
