Britain’s favourite hate rag The Daily Mail has found itself in a dilemma over their coverage of the new royal baby.
Lilibet Diana, the second child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, was born on Friday.
“Usually we fawn over any Royal news with the soft splash treatment. Our Brexit loving readership laps that shit up. If they close their eyes they can pretend it is 1950 again. But then we have the Meghan question,” said a Daily Mail editor.
Markle and Harry have been divisive figures amongst reactionary British circles after accusing the royal family of racism in a now infamous Oprah interview.
“Obviously we don’t like Meghan. We’re not racist, no one who reads our works at The Daily Mail is, but we don’t feel comfortable having a mirror turned on us by a brazen upstart Yank.”
The Royal Baby good/black American bad dynamic has resulted in muted coverage of the birth by The Mail.
“We did think about just reporting that poor, misguided Harry had a baby and using pictures of him, but no doubt we’d come under attack again. We just can’t win. It’d be easier for everyone if Meghan just went away,” concluded the editor.
