Local teenager encounters CD following Spotify outage

A local teenager has been left confused after encountering a CD for the first time during today’s Spotify outage.

Billy Silly (15) usually listens to his Spotify playlists when studying, but was left without music when the streaming service was temporarily unavailable.

“I can’t concentrate without music,” Silly said. “First I tried YouTube, but there was a fucking ad every 30 seconds. Then my Dad suggested I try a CD.

I didn’t know what the hell he was on about. Then he went up to the attic and got something called a ‘Discman’ and several ‘CDs’ by classic rock bands like Radiohead and Oasis.”

Silly was shocked to discover that music had once been primarily consumed as physical media.

“I had no idea. I’ve heard about vinyl, but that’s for perverts, right? It’s so clunky. You have to put batteries in the Discman thing, which kills the environment and if you want to listen to another album you have to remove the disc and replace it with the next one. It’s exhausting. You can’t even make a playlist.

And apparently you couldn’t just get these CDs online. You actually had to go to a shop and pay for them! The world back then was a pretty dark place.”

Silly’s Dad debated telling his son about DVDs but has decided to wait until their Netflix isn’t working.
