Local Twitter user disappointed by lack of corporate April Fools Jokes

A local woman who obsessively checks Twitter has expressed her disappointment at the lack of April Fools from large corporations.

Jenny Janney (28) blamed the current Covid-19 pandemic for slowing the usual barrage of bad PR puff pieces from a barrage to a trickle.

“These posts are important. They show us that these huge companies aren’t just ruthless money making machines. They’re just like us. They’re people, with feelings and a sense of humour. Is nothing safe from this virus?”

Janney, a big fan of comedian Michael McIntyre, said that some previous japes had literally left her crying on the floor with laughter.

“There was the year the chocolate company said they were producing that weird flavour. Or the time the electronics company announced this invasive new technology. Or the time the US elected a reality TV star as President. Oh, such fun!”

Several companies, who usually release awful jokes, stated they would not be doing so this year, but that their PR departments were working hard to rustle up something extra cringe-worthy for 2021.

Janney has vowed to continue refreshing Twitter for the reminder of the day in the hope of finding a side-splitting pearl amongst the Covid-19 swine.
