Johnson demands NHS claps for government

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has demanded that NHS frontline workers start giving back to the country by clapping for the government every Thursday.

“We spent weeks clapping for the NHS,” said Johnson, “people were out banging pots, whistling and all sorts. Frankly, it gave me a headache.”

Johnson stated that with over 40,000 confirmed Covid-19 deaths, the NHS were “really not doing anything worth clapping for. We should not be rewarding failure.”

Instead, the PM insisted, carers should be coming out every Thursday evening to applaud the Conservative government, who’ve battled through this crisis despite receiving next to no help from scientists, the public or the NHS.

“NHS workers need to realise how difficult it’s been for us as a government. We had big decisions to make around herd immunity, social distancing, testing and contact tracing. It’s all been very taxing. All they’ve had to do is save lives.

Look at some of our key workers – Matt Hancock literally laughs in the face of Covid-19. I applaud his bravery. Priti Patel is sending the virus back where it came from. And as for Big Dom Cummings – what more can I say?”

The first Clap for your Government evening will be held next Thursday across the UK.
