Barry Cowen’s time in Dail Eireann may be coming to an end, with the Fianna Fail TD considering a sensational offer to join the Ferrari Formula 1 team.
Ferrari, who have struggled against Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes in recent years, believe the Laois-Offaly TD is the man to return the World Driver’s Championship to the Scuderia.
“It has been a difficult time for the team,” said a Ferrari source, “and in this post Covid landscape we feel Barry is the man to lead our return to glory
We have watched his performances on the Irish political circuit and he is truly a headline making performer.”
Ferrari bosses are believed to be particularly impressed with Cowen’s ability to handle a car in any conditions, or condition.
“The Scuderia has not had a great champion since the days of Michael Schumacher,” said the source “and even Michael never managed to combine his race wins with being Minister for the Marine and Agriculture.
In Ireland they say he is provisional, but there is nothing provisional about Barry Cowen. He is a champion amongst men.”
DTTN contacted Cowen for comment, but his office informed us that the Minister had gone for a long drive to clear his head.
