A local coffee shop is undergoing a makeover in a bid to attract new customers.
The Steaming Bean, a Main Street institution, has struggled with social distancing restrictions and owner Chad Mocha is now planning a new hipster vibe.
“Since lockdown everyone’s been making their coffee at home, so we need to offer something different to stay afloat.”
The renamed SB2 is undergoing a complete renovation, with emphasis being placed on distressed wooden beams and quirky decorative lamps.
“Our old décor was cosy, but we really needed something Instagrammable like the novelty smoking Buddha lamp I just picked up,” said Mocha.
SB2’s menu is being radically revamped, with the usual array of coffees and pastries being axed.
“We’re targeting the ironic hipster market. We’ll be offering Maxwell House served from glass jugs, and bowls of Angel Delight for our more peckish customers.”
Mocha stated that the new menu would be an exciting addition to the local food scene.
“Our baristas have all had special training from the Maxwell House people to ensure they hit that watery grainy sweet spot every time. You can taste the difference in every cup.”
Excitement over the new SB2 is mounting around town, and DTTN understands that the café is fully booked until January.
